I can't believe I did this......
I threw my wedding dress away!!! I kind of did it to manipulate someone, and it backfired. I had my daughter try it on, and it fit her (can't believe I used to be somewhat small)....so I asked if she wanted it. She kind of looked like "eh" and said "no, not really". I said, "fine, I will throw it out then"... "I don't need it". Thinking that she would say "no, mama...give it to me. I will wear it after all", BUT she didn't. And i forgot that I actually DID toss it in the trash can, until the day AFTER trash day. It wasn't a traditional wedding dress. It would have made a nice church dress, or she COULD have worn it at her own wedding, either way. BUT I THREW IT AWAY! WAH!!!!!!!!!!

I gave mine away years and years ago. I didn't even wear it to my own wedding; we eloped instead.
Good riddance, I say. :-)
I hope my girls decide to elope, too, and we can give them the wedding money for a house down pmt instead, or something useful like that.
I understand how you feel, Holly. It's a sentimental thing...of course. from a practical standpoint a used wedding dress is useless, unless one of your daughters wants to wear it, or (if it's fancy enough) you can sell it.
I keep my wedding dress anyway, because it's a reminder of a very special day.
I'm so sorry that your dress is gone.

Robyn, you don't have a sentimental bone in your body, do you? However, I agree about the money most weddings cost...it is more practical to give the couple that money. I plan to do the same type of thing...small wedding, money given to the kids.
And Joann, thanks for not being such a hard hearted individual. LOL! It wasn't useless though...it was a dress that was just white, and lacy. NOT a wedding dress per se. It looked absolutely cute on her, but she hates dresses...so...i tried to force her hand. HA!
Holly
This sounds like something I might do. So sorry your dress is gone...

Thanks Julie. :)
I guess I will just have to get a new one, when we renew our vows. I think we are going to do that at our 15 year anniversary...
