Thanksgiving and miscellany

Wow...It is almost December!!! Woot! My favorite month of the year.

Thanksgiving went very smoothly, and for those of you who don't know my little secret, well, here ya go! I have never cooked a Thanksgiving dinner...ever! I used to go to my mom's, and then when that stopped, I never saw the point in cooking this huge feast for a bunch of little people. So, we just went to the local community center and ate there, sometimes volunteering afterwards or beforehand to work. One year, I tried to cook...this is the secret that you must not laugh at...I thought the turkey that was in a glass dish needed a little water, so I got some. Put it on the turkey and the glass promptly shattered from the cold water. It went everywhere, all over the oven, the kitchen and the turkey. I never knew a hot glass would shatter from cold water. You all probably know that. HAHA! So, that was it for me. Except this year, my almost 12 year old and my almost 16 year old wanted to cook. So, I let them. They did a ham, mashed potatoes with bacon, green beans, corn, rolls, and cherry cheesecake for dessert. YUMMO! I was so proud of them. It was good food, and fun for the others to eat at home.

I am now 36 years old. My birthday was the day after Thanksgiving. I am now really advanced maternal age, LOL! I can't wait for the tests to all be offered more often now. I go in for my level 2 ultrasound on the 7th, speaking of tests. I am excited to see this little person. I won't believe the sex of the baby, I am sure.. Have I ever mentioned why? They messed up 3 times with Nathan. All said he was a girl, and so ha ha...I had nothing to bring him home in, no name, and a very surprised husband. It wasn't funny at the time to anyone but me. I just went with the flow. I am almost 20 weeks and still am not feeling anything, so it will be nice to see that everything is going along smoothly.

Getting ready for Arkansas...Kids are excited about a trip and three days in a motel. I suppose it could be fun. I hope they do well. :)

Hi Holly,

Happy Birthday to you!!

Mine was 3 days before Thanksgiving and my daughter Cheryl's was the day after yours.

Sounds like you've come up with a great way to deal with Thanksgiving! Funny story about the glass pan....but I'm sure it wasn't funny at the time! :)
