Lot's going on around here

WELL!!!!! been a while since i've posted, but it doesn't mean there's not anything going on around here. Biggest thing was a mission trip to Honduras. Boy that was great. Took no. 1 son with me and he had a great time. He really bonded with the kids down there and made a big impact with them. He's great with kids around here, but now I know he can be great with kids even when he doesn't speak their language. Basketball and awe over his height transcend all language barriers. :-D Anyway, he's still trying to have it all sink in, the conditions they live in and all. But then tonight something else exciting happened to him that made him forget everything else.
dum-dum-dum:
He got to drive the car. I know it doesn't sound like much but to a 13 year old who's gotten to move the cars up and down the driveway so he could play basketball, this was a wonderful dream come true. We had to get gas in one of the cars (he's the one that noticed it since that car isn't driven often), and he asked if he could. WELL, Ma and I decided to both go. He drove around the block to the gas station and then we drove home a little longer way than normal. He did really well considering he had a pregnant mom in the front seat and his back-seat driving old man in the back (of course). I think I am looking forward to the day he gets his license as he will be able to help out around the house in many new ways. Now I just need to checkout the rules around here about homeschool driver's ed. requirements. Too bad he can't get his license sooner. I know it flies in the face of all the normal wisdom out there, but I am enjoying my teenager as he grows up and I plan on keeping it that way. I am not going to assume that it's going to be horrible to have a teenager because "so and so" was a bad one. I think this culture holds too many misconceptions regarding what teenagers "will" be like or how they "will" act toward their parents.

Well, enough soapboxing. Great Job on the driving son and I look forward to the next time. LOVE DAD!!!!
